Reliable fuel for my commute

I've been fueling up at BP for years now, mostly getting unleaded petrol. This last time I filled up my sedan it was pretty much the same as always. I use the BPme app, which usually gets me a few cents off per gallon, which is nice. It's consistent and I know what to expect. The stations are always clean, which I appreciate, especially when I need to pop inside for a drink. They are definitely my go-to for gas.

Saved money on Castrol oil

Okay, so I usually get my oil changed at the mechanic, but I needed some Castrol Edge motor oil for my car this time. I looked around and BP had a pretty good deal on it, way better than other auto parts stores I checked online. I just drove to my local station, picked it up, and was on my way. The guy at the counter was super helpful too, pointed me right to where it was. It was a smooth experience, and I definitely saved some money compared to what I usually pay. I'll probably check them first for oil next time!

Good coffee and quick stop

I just needed to grab a quick coffee and a snack this morning. Picked up a Wild Bean Cafe coffee and a pastry at the BP on Main Street. It was fast and the coffee was pretty good for a gas station. Got me going for the day, so no complaints.

How do the BP fuel rewards compare to Shell's Fuel Rewards program? I mainly fill up at whichever is more convenient, but trying to maximize my savings.

J Jeff J. 1 month ago
BPme usually gives you 5-10 cents off per gallon pretty consistently, especially if you link a card. Shell's program can go higher with certain purchases, but it feels like you have to jump through more hoops or spend more on groceries to get the bigger discounts.

I find BP's system simpler. You just link your card or scan the app. Shell sometimes has better deals if you buy stuff inside the store, but for just gas, BP's pretty straightforward with decent savings.

Just got an email about a 'first fill up discount' with BPme, but I've had the app for ages. Is this just for new users or can existing ones snag it too?

K Kevin A. 2 weeks ago
Pretty sure that's a new user thing, man. Or maybe if you haven't used the app in a really long time. I've never gotten a 'first fill up' offer after my initial one.

Could be a targeted offer! Sometimes they send those out to get people who haven't used it recently to come back. Check the fine print on the email, it usually says if it's for new members only.

Anyone know if BP stations in New York City accept Apple Pay at the pump? Or is it usually just inside?

S Sam Hall 1 week ago
I've seen some accept it directly at the pump, but it's not all of them. I think it depends on the individual station's setup. Most definitely take it inside though.

The BPme app lets you pay from your phone, which is kinda like Apple Pay but for BP. So if the pump doesn't have it, that's usually an option.

Hey, wondering if anyone's had issues with the BPme app discounts showing up? Sometimes I fill up and don't see the cents off, even though I've got rewards.

A Aaron Hernandez 1 month ago
Yeah, I've had that happen a couple of times. Usually, if you check your transaction history in the app, it'll show up a little later, like within a few hours. If not, I've just contacted support through the app and they fixed it pretty quick.

Make sure your payment method is linked correctly in the app. I had to re-link my card once and then it started working again. Worth checking that first.

Thinking of switching to BP Ultimate for my car, is it really worth the extra cost over regular unleaded? My car's not super high performance or anything.

M Mark Lopez 3 weeks ago
Honestly, for a regular car, you probably won't notice a huge difference. Some people swear by it for engine cleanliness, but unless your manufacturer specifically recommends premium, regular is usually fine. I'd save the money myself.

I use it in my older car and I feel like it runs a bit smoother, but it might just be in my head, lol. Worth trying a tank or two to see if your car responds better.
